Acclaimed Author Michael Gerard Bauer’s Cabra Visit

Author's blog

On Monday 29th July acclaimed Brisbane author Michael Gerard Bauer visited Cabra College. To help us celebrate Book Week for 2013 he addressed several hundred students from Years 6-8 during lively and supremely amusing talks in St. Dominic’s Hall and the Dance Studio.

Bauer, author of many books for children and young adults is perhaps best known for his school days saga which begins with the irrepressible Don’t Call Me Ishmael. This perennially popular series charts the fortunes of Ishmael Leseur as he starts Year 9 at the all Boys’ school St Daniels. The author held his young audience spellbound with his tales of how ordinary people and events are transformed into stories for all to share.

A former English and Economics teacher, Michael Gerard Bauer knows his audience well and whether writing or speaking our students found it easy to relate to his often hilarious anecdotes. Bauer’s books are published by Omnibus Books an imprint of Scholastic. For a full list of the author’s books click here.
