Minecraft Library Design Competition Winners Announced!


Thanks to all those who entered our Design a library in Minecraft Competition. We had some truly amazing entries and I can now reveal the winners below.

  • Overall Winner
    • Ned P. (8 Black)
  • First Runner Up
    • Matthew D. (8 Tan)
  • Third Place
    • Grace A. (7 Gold)

Ned created a truly wonderful library space with an excellent, insightful commentary as part of his video tour.

Ned has scored himself a HUGE $70 EB Games gift card and $30 Dymocks Book voucher for his stellar efforts. Matthew D. will receive a $30 EB Games and $20 Dymocks voucher, while Grace can enjoy both $20 EB Games and $20 Dymocks vouchers.

Congratulations to these extremely talented Minecrafters and well done to all the other entrants of our first competition for the year. Well done!

Minecraft Library Design Competition closes this Week.

What better way to get these ideas and plans across than to build them in Minecraft and enter our great competition? We are looking for innovative, funky, student-centred ideas to incorporate into our new, real library re-design here at Cabra. You have till the end of Week 10 (Friday 8 April), to design, craft and submit your ideal library (or part thereof) to our competition. You can use the Submit Form at the bottom of this post or email us a link to a short 3 minute video tour of your finished Minecraft Library for us to judge. Please ensure you also include your name, Home room any other technical specifications you want us to consider.

Calling all library lovers and Minecrafters. As you know we are planning to re-design the Cabra Library spaces and as always we want student input. If you have a great idea, fantastic concept or dream library space in mind, we want to know. You can work as an individual or collaborate in a group.

Website of the Week: Mental Floss: 62 of the World’s Most Beautiful Libraries

This week’s Website of the Week is Mental Floss. This site is a very interesting collection of curious facts and amazing information similar in some ways to Brainpickings, the “digest of interestingness”. I first stumbled upon this site when reading an article about 62 of the World’s Most Beautiful Libraries. If you are a lover of books and especially libraries you must check this list out. Some of the most amazing, beautiful and interesting spaces to hold books are listed in no particular order.
